Goats are amazing mountain climbers, as any number of breathtaking videos will confirm. So it is no surprise that on some of the near-vertical rises of the Scarp, you will see brown, long-horned ibex goats perched on what seem like impossible surfaces. The beasts can even cross from one side of the Scarp to the other, a feat that would challenge even the most skilled human free-climber.
Among the herds that roam south of the Notch Pass is one group of giant-sized goats which, in all the chaos of the depopulation and invasion of Dulsharna, escaped their herders in the central hills and found a home here. One third of encounters, then, will be with these goats of prodigious size, which when enraged will charge and butt, with the mass and force of one of the fabled "war-horses" of the knights of the North.
