Three hexes south, one southwest of Alakran.
Wild dogs of the desert are larger and much less solitary than foxes or coyotes, so they appear as an encounter of note. Possible terrestrial role models are the dingoes of Australia, the oddly hyena-like African spotted dog (pictured) who preys on antelopes, and the reddish-coated dhole of South Asia, which underwent possibly the most impressive animal-to-monster upgrade ever in Lovecraft's mythos.
All right, but these wild dogs of Wahattu are lean golden yellow hounds akin to dingoes, roaming the stones and the dunes, larger and more varied after a millennium of breeding with escaped domestic animals. They join together in packs of 3d6 to take down camels. This stretch of the desert is too barren to attract many rivals in their niche.
How about that desc. from the Lovecraft: "know for the rustling they make among the mountains of bones"...
