This hex, 1 hex northeast of Alakran, is originally just a dull stretch of desert plain at the western, Scarp border of Dulsharna, waterless and hence never settled. It is claimed by Leetakh's gnolls who are settled to the north.
Travellers through any of the marked 1-mile subhexes (50% chance if passing through the 5-mile hex in general) will notice totems, poles approximately gnoll height topped with an animal and human (or gnoll) skull mounted side by side, hung with dangling beads and shards of bronze and tin. From this, a moderate demonology knowledge roll can determine this to be a sign of Gorgo/ Mormo, the dual demon entity who perhaps is known by other names to experienced dimensionauts. Success at a difficult level further indicates that, with the sentient skull on the left, Gorgo is particularly honored by whoever put up these markers.
From the campaign lore:
Gorgo/Mormo, Faces of Blood and Terror.
A tradition of
never depicting the complete form of this entity leaves unclear whether
she is twinned demons, a two-headed demon, some other dualistic form, or
even entirely a "she." Elements of lizard, dog, and ape can be
discerned in the few partial idols that exist, but the chief
manifestations of the cult are in behaviour: howling, frenetic dance,
and violence. The name "Gorgo" refers to an aspect of terror and madness
while "Mormo" refers to enmity, malice, and the spilling of blood.
Destruction of mind, body, and matter are their sacraments. The full
moon is the time when Gorgo and Mormo are most potent. The cult is said
to employ hallucinogens.
