One Page Dungeon Entry: Old Bastard's Barrens

Click to read it.

Yep, that ol' dirty bastard. He carved his face on a mountain.

If your comments don't get me to change anything I'm submitting this to the One Page Dungeon Competition this weekend. Big field this year, it looks like. Hopefully this'll stand out.

  1. Awesome. This is pretty much what I had in my head when I was jabbering about a visual dungeon. I love how the different levels of challenges all happen in the same small locale.

My only wish is that you could have icons representing the lettered entries too, the way you have them for the church and tower. Well, maybe little moon/sun icons to make clearer when encounters can happen, and bolding the numbers on the table so they are easier to find. Other than that, fabulous.

  2. I like it! Great use of the silhouettes. I think this would be very usable during play, so that is a big plus. One thing you are missing is a link for the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License, which is a requirement for all entries. Other than that, I look forward to judging your entry for the contest. Good luck!

  3. Agree with Telecanter that icons would be better than the letters if you can find/make ones that work.

The bestiary section would be easier to read if it had consistant collumns. The first one on the left is easy to read, but then it gets pretty jumbled.

  4. Thanks! These are helpful comments. I'll see how many of them I can incorporate.

  5. I don't understand what the entries like '1A' or '0N' on the map are meant to signify. Am I missing something obvious?

  6. Chris: It's explained in the box on the lower left, though maybe should have its own key.
