Interlude: Encounter Map, Five Hex Radius

This mini-world is 55 miles in diameter; two or three days' journey, end to end.

We'll take a short content break today. I figure there is another full ring of hexes, each thirty miles from Alakran, and then the material to the south deviates too much from what was developed for the campaign. From that time, although the radial location system will remain, developed sectors will take precedence over undeveloped.

  1. Hi, been following a bit of this hex crawl. Quite interesting. Is there a post which explains what A2 or N1 designations mean? I think I have it right that D2 means 2d6 encountered?

  2. Yep, it's all explained in the first radius post: https://rolesrules.blogspot.com/2023/01/interludeencounter-map-1-hex-radius.html

D/N/A stands for time of activity (day/night/any) and the number is the radius of the creature's active zone. The numbers at the top right of some hexes are a reference to the numbering on the blog.

    1. Thanks Roger. I went back to post 1 but didn't noodle around enough to come across interlude 1. So I'm really looking at the interlude posts for logistics.

I tracked down the dice rolling system too. Complex.

Love the encounters though- great Bronze Age/Ancient East inspiration.
